Evacuation Orders & Checklist

Follow Official Instructions and Prepare for Evacuation

Always comply with directions from law enforcement and emergency personnel. A FORT should only be used when escape routes are impassable and no other alternatives exist.

Key Considerations During Evacuation:
  • Keep vehicle windows rolled up to prevent smoke or debris from entering.
  • Turn off the HVAC system to avoid drawing in outside air.
  • Shut all doors and windows, including interior ones, but leave them unlocked for emergency access.
  • Move combustible items such as curtains, furniture, and blinds away from windows.
  • Switch on all indoor and outdoor lights to improve visibility for emergency crews.
  • Open fence gates to allow first responders easy entry.
  • Shut off the gas supply at the meter to reduce fire risk.
